In this narrative, the student is in great emotional pain because of his feelings for his unrequited love interest, which is intended to teach the reader that they should not invest so much energy into romance. The student weeps at the beginning of the story, and says, â€Å"It’s amazing how happiness depends on such little things. I’ve read all that the wise men have written, and all the secrets of philosophy, but my life is wretched because of a red rose.† Despite having knowledge of the secrets of life, the student experiences severe emotional pain because of a love interest. This suggests that the student believes that romantic love is more important than his studies, because he places his feelings over logic and knowledge. However, this turns out to be a folly. At the end of the story, the student’s love interest rejects his advances, which worsens the student’s pain and makes him very angry. This suggests that the student should not have inves ted so much energy into the love interest. and he should have placed logical thinking over emotional thinking. The Nightingale’s sacrifice and work are ultimately useless, suggesting the uselessness of love. The Nightingale understands the student’s romantic feelings. He goes through great lengths to ensure that the student receives his red rose, and ultimately dies because of this sacrifice. The student doesn’t understand the sacrifice, thinking that he has found the red rose by himself. This suggests the uselessness of the sacrifice. The red rose, in turn, is useless to the student, because his love interest rejects him. This further suggests that it was foolish for the bird to sacrifice himself for the sake o f romantic love. Because the Nightingale’s actions in the name of love are useless and foolish, we can extrapolate that in this story romantic love is useless and foolish. At the end of the story the protagonist chooses to read a book instead of continuing to pursue romantic love, which suggests the moral lesson of the story: logic and education are more important than love. In the final paragraph of the story the student says, â€Å"What a silly thing love is†¦.It’s not half as useful as logic, and in fact is quite unpractical. I shall go back to philosophy.† He then goes back to his room and begins to read. This is a remarkable change from how we are introduced to the student’s character—he is pining over a woman and hopes that he can find a red rose to give to her in order to win her over. In the end, he throws the red rose in the gutter. Throwing the red rose in the gutter signifies that he is abandoning the pursuit of romantic love. After he throws away the rose, he goes to read his book, which represents logic and knowledge. The obvious symbolism and the actions of the narrator at the end of the story suggests the moral lesson. â€Å"The Nightingale and the Rose,† a didactic children’s story, suggests that pursuing romantic love is not a useful endeavor compared to pursuing education. In stories where there is a moral lesson, we often see that the protagonist has undergone a change because of what he has learned throughout the story. At the beginning of the story, the student understands his feelings of romantic love to be more important than anything else, including his stories. The Nightingale attempts to help him pursue his romantic interest and dies in the attempt. The student’s romantic interest rejects him. The student symbolically casts aside the red rose that the Nightingale died to bring him, which demonstrates the lesson of the story: romantic love is useless, and a person should focus on logic while investing their energy into obtaining knowledge.

He is often seen for brief medication visits because there are no positive symptoms and no problems with acting out, only if need be a slight few changes may be made to his medications. Physicians won’t usually get information about negative symptoms unless they have time to observe and ask certain questions about the patient’s behavior. Ways to help negative symptoms would be social training skills. It is important to teach family and friends who deal with someone who has schizophrenia about the negative symptoms. Musically the blues are defined as a 12-bar chord progression, harmonize with the corresponding scales and patterns. The chord progression pattern is four measures of tonic chords followed by two measures of sub- dominate chords, novo more measures of tonic chords, one measure of dominate chords, one measure of sub dominate chords, and finally two measures of tonic chords. Blues performers would travel around the south singing about their loss of love and family, and the pains they were forced to endure. The music became popular because nearly every one who heard it could identify with its message.This type of Blues later became known as country blues because it was rooted in rural areas. The Blues became more main stream and popular in the 1 asss because of the recording industry coming into existence. More instruments were added such as pianos, organs, and wind instruments. Big Band and Rhythm and Blues stemmed from City Blues. Rock and Roll then stemmed from Rhythm and Blues, in fact, many of the first recorded Rock songs where simply white musicians re-recording Rhythm and Blues songs originally written by black artists. It took Bob Dylan 23 years to realize that he wanted to become a rock musician.Bob Dylan, whose birth name was Robert Allen Zimmerman, had a relatively uneventful childhood in a Minnesota mining town. He adopted his pseudonym when he went to the University of Minnesota. Dylan came from the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, with whom Zimmerman was frequently compared in the University folk circles. After leaving the University, Dylan moved to New Works Greenwich Village to follow his folk hero, Woodier Gunter. In fact, his main goal of moving to the Village was simply to meet his hero. He not only met the folk guru, but became a member of his group Of followers, or groupies.They also became good friends. Gunter got him a couple of gigs at various nightclubs around the Village. Dylan got enough attention at his nightly gigs to be noticed by the Columbia Record Company, specifically the producer John Hammond. His first record, Bob Dylan, was just his renditions of previously recorded songs, but it was popular enough to gain him a long term contract. The recording was so bare bones that the record cost only $402 dollars to make, not including production. The songs Bob Dylan wrote werent used by him exclusively,. He actually got his first important recognition when a song he wrote was used by the Birds. The song was Mr.. Tambourine Man and it went to number 1 on the charts. The introduction into the mainstream or pop arena was extremely important to folk- rock, giving it the recognition it desperately needed. Before this song was released the Folk-Rock genre was hardly viewable in the public eye, and was only popular in small folk circles. Bringing the American folk scene mainstream did gain Dylan a lot of popularity, but it also got him some unwanted criticism from folk musicians across the Atlantic. In particular from a big name in British folk music , Anew Magical. l have watched with fascination the meteoric rise of the American doll and I am still unable to see him as anything more than a youth Of mediocre talent. Only a completely non-critical audience nourished on the watery pap of pop music could have fallen for such tenth-rate drivel. But the poetry! they say, what poetry? The cultivated illiteracy of his (Bob Dylan) topical songs, are the embarrassing fourth grade schoolboy attempts at free verse. Magical failed to see that American youth were not as interested in an idol following literary protocol as they were in the message and the overall sound. Despite the criticism, Dylan produced many more incredibly successful ones for himself and others including: Sonny and Ochers l Got You Babe, the immortal All Along the Watchtower performed by Jim Hendrix, and the eerily infectious Knocking on Heavens Door By Guns n Roses. His first musical stance was as a war protest folk s inger. . During the Cuban missile crisis he wrote A Hard Rains A-Goanna Fall. It was a warning and a portrait of what a nuclear war would be. Dylan gained the title of spokesman for his generation when he switched from folk to rock with Highway 61 Revisited. In 1966 he [reportedly] broke his neck in a motorcycle accident. Whether he id or didnt, he got a chance to escape from the spotlight He did make several albums privately after that but many said that he had lost his musical power, and the accident had broken his spirit as well as his neck. If he had broken his neck in the accident he would have achieved mythical status. He made a musical comeback in 1975 with Blood on the Tracks. Over the years, Dylan has retained his popularity. He constantly surprises his audiences with impromptu changes in musical style. Many critics say the only song writers that can be compared to Dylan are the team of Paul McCarty and John Lennox. John Lennox began his musical career in high school, with he band called the Quarryman. In his sophomore year he met Paul Incarnate. A short time later, McCarty introduced Lennox to his friend, George Harrison, who was only 13 at the time. The band had a number of names besides The Quarrymen before they finally decided on the Beetles, intentionally misspelled so it would have the word beat in it. Like Bob Dylan They gained the attention of a record company by putting on an excellent show in a club. However, unlike Dylan, the recognition they received wasnt direct. They had played as the backup band on a Tony Sheridan record.. The two final songs on the record they wrote and performed themselves. Word got around , and one record store owners noticed that he couldnt keep that specific record on the shelves. Brian Epstein (the record shop owner) talked to the band, told them what was happening with the record and asked them to make a demo recording to send to several record companies. After being rejected by two other labels, George Martin at Colombia like what he heard and signed the band. His Only condition Was for the Beetles to loose Pete Best, their drummer. They did, and hired Ring Starr, who had sat in for Best several times, as the full time drummer. In 1962 they released their first single, Love Me Do.It sold like crazy locally, but only reached number 17 on the charts, still very good for a debut. Their next single, Please Please Me, made it to number one on the charts. They had become Britains top rock band virtually over night. Their popularity could only grow with the releases of two more number one singles: From Me to You, and She Loves You. When they released the album, Please Please Me. , it stayed at number one for 30 weeks. The release of the song I Want to Hold Your Hand in 1964 sparked on of the most important musical events of his century, The British Invasion of America.The British Invasion was a movement of British music and musicians across the Atlantic to America. Bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones and The Zombies, Acme through the hole that the Beetles had made. Another phenomenon the song sparked was Battlements. Battlement saw its beginnings when the Beetles made an appearance on the De Sullivan Show. When the Beetles toured the U. S. For the first time, the crowds exhibited a kind of mob adulation. Their first album was on the top over every chart it could be on in both the U. S. And Britain.The only thing that could take it from its place was their second album (Rock Giants). The name of the album was Meet the Beetles. It stayed at the top of the British charts for 22 weeks, and was selling extremely well all around the world. The singles from the LIP all went straight to number one on the pop charts, replacing each other in succession. The sixth single Of the album had the largest advanced orders in recording history. The Beetles produced six more albums for a total of eight, all of which went to number one. The Beetles where also the creators of several films includingThe Yellow Submarine , which has become a musical cartoon classic. By the time the Let It Be tapes came out in 1 970, the FAA Four where falling apart, Paul desperately tried to keep the band together, but when he realized he was the only one who still cared about it, he gave up as well. The group disbanded in 1971, through a law suit. John Lennox had a fairly successful solo career with Yoke Non after the bands breakup, until he was assassinated in 1980. Paul continues to have a successful musical career to this day. The number of number one Beetles singles, 20 in the ElicitedStates, has never been matched, nor is it likely to be(Rock Giants). Jim Hendrix was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. His entire family was very musically inclined. His father and aunt played together at the local Baptist Church. His main influence was his fathers immense collection of Blues and R B records. In 1959, he dropped out of high school and joined the military. He was discharged when he hurt himself in a parachute drop (Rock Giants). After he Was discharged he joined a circle Of big name black performers, such as Little Richard and Wilson Pickett and others.This is where he would learn some of is most impressive stage tricks like playing over his head and behind his back. Hendrix didnt think that he could ever become a big name in Rock and Roll star, because of his unworthy voice. But when he heard Bob Dylan, he realized that the voice wasnt important as he thought it was. In 1965 he formed Jimmy James and the Blue Flames, and began touring Greenwich Village. While playing at these clubs he started incorporating some of his trademark techniques into his performances, such as feedback and fuzzes. Jim got his break while The Animals where touring in the united States.Chaos Chandler, the bassist of The Animals, heard Jim playing and convinced him to move to Britain. Chandler matched Jim with Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, to for the Jim Hendrix Experience. The group rose to fame in a matter of months playing in popular clubs. Their first single, Hey Joe, and their second, Purple Haze, where both fairly successful, and they where both included on the groups first album, Are You Experienced. His sound, matched with his talent, is a phenomenon no musician has ever been able to duplicate. For example, he could give the impression that he was playing two guitars at once.Hendrix made five albums in total but was only satisfies with Electric Lady Land, which contained his most successful single: Dylan All along the Watchtower. Hendrix most memorable performance was in 1 969, at Woodstock, where he played his immortal Star-spangled Banner, however it is still unclear if he played the song in such an unpatriotic, angry style in protest Of the war, or from the pressure from black militant groups. In 1970 Hendrix died from inhaling his own vomit after an intoxication of barbiturates. The debate has never been put to rest over whether it was suicide or carelessness.

Societies Realization Of Rock Societies realization of Rock by Karen The cultural establishment of the 50's was one of prosperity and rules. Authority figures were respected. There was a right and wrong. There were accepted ways of doing things and white people did what was expected of their class. Children and teenagers of the early '50's followed these rules obediently and unquestioningly. Then the middle '50's changed lives of Americans forever. They invented rock'n'roll. The establishment, which included parents, teachers and nearly ALL adults listened to Bill Haley and the? Comets send Rock Around the Clock though transistor radios everywhere in the country. He was different. But it was when Elvis hit the scene that the white establishment in every city and town started to worry. Elvis had long hair and sideburns and looked like a hood. He was a white guy that sang like a black guy. His appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show was so controversial that it was reported he had to be photographed from the waist up. Elvis represented rebellion and something unnatural and obscene. Although fearful, the establishment predicted that rock'n'roll was a fad that would fade away. But it didn't. American teenagers loved the rebel style of Elvis. He represented a break from the rules; he sang a new kind of music that was theirs alone. He personified cool. Elvis crossed the lines of age, class, race and culture in a country that was conservative and correct. He was seen as a delinquent type and was even linked to atheism and communism (although it was later learned of his strong religious and patriotic convictions). The adults were certain that society would become Communistic and certainly was already becoming vulgar and obscene. The country would be doomed. We have parallels today: rap and punk rock are good examples of this. The kids who are in to defy society's rules with colored hair, body piercing, dress and activities such as moshing. Many of us look at these kids with a fearful eye wondering what kind will come out of this. Some say this behavior will mold our future's society into a country of irresponsible misfits. Her sister-in-law Catherine of Valois also married a man of lower station after she was widowed. Two generations later,  Catherines grandson Henry Tudor married Jacquettas granddaughter, Elizabeth of York. Jacquettas second husband and Elizabeths father was the less highborn county knight Sir Richard Woodville. At the age of 7, Elizabeth was sent to another landed household (a custom of the period was to trade children so that they would have social contacts in the future), probably Sir Edward Grey and his wife Elizabeth, Lady Ferrers. There, she had formal lessons in reading, writing (in English, French, and Latin), and a grounding in law and mathematics. The Woodville family was wealthy when Elizabeth was born, but as the Hundred Years War wound down and the Wars of the Roses conflict began, the familys finances became straitened, and as a result, Elizabeth married John Grey (7th Baron Ferrers of Groby) in 1452 when she was about 14 years of age. The recently knighted Grey was killed at the Second Battle of St. Albans in 1461, fighting for the Lancastrian side in the Wars of the Roses. Elizabeth petitioned Lord Hastings, Edwards uncle, in a controversy over land with her mother-in-law. She arranged a marriage between one of her sons and one of Hastings daughters. Another story circulated that she was a sorceress who bewitched him, but she may have simply known him from court. Legend has her giving Edward, a known womanizer, an ultimatum that they had to be married or she would not submit to his advances. On May 1, 1464, Elizabeth and Edward married secretly. Edwards mother, Cecily Neville, Duchess of York, and Cecilys nephew, the Earl of Warwick who had been an ally of Edward IV in winning the crown, had been arranging a suitable marriage for Edward with the French king. When Warwick found out about Edwards marriage to Elizabeth Woodville, Warwick turned against Edward and helped restore Henry VI briefly to power. Warwick was killed in battle as were Henry and his son, and Edward returned to power. Elizabeth Woodville was crowned Queen in Westminster Abbey on May 26, 1465; both of her parents were present for the ceremony. Elizabeth and Edward had three sons and six daughters- Elizabeth of York who married Henry VII; Mary; Cecily; Edward V, briefly King of England (not crowned); Margaret; Richard, Duke of York; Anne who married Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey; George, Duke of Bedford; Catherine who married William Courtney, Earl of Devon; and Bridget. Elizabeth also had two sons by her first husband- Thomas Grey, the Marquis of Dorset and Richard Grey. One was an ancestor of the ill-fated Lady Jane Grey. Family Ambitions Her extensive and, by all accounts, ambitious family was favored heavily after Edward took the throne. Her eldest son from her first marriage, Thomas Grey, was created Marquis Dorset in 1475. Elizabeth promoted the fortunes and advancement of her relatives, even at the cost of her popularity with the nobles. In one of the most scandalous incidents, Elizabeth may have been behind the marriage of her brother, 19 years old, to the widowed  Katherine Neville,  the wealthy Duchess of Norfolk, 80 years old. But the grasping reputation was enhanced- or created- first  by Warwick in 1469 and later by Richard III, who had their  own reasons for wanting Elizabeths and her familys reputations to be diminished. Among her other activities, Elizabeth continued her predecessors support of Queens College. Widowhood When Edward IV died suddenly on April 9, 1483, Elizabeths fortunes abruptly changed. Her husbands brother Richard of Gloucester was appointed Lord Protector since Edwards eldest son Edward V  was a minor. Richard moved quickly to seize power, claiming- apparently with the support of his mother Cecily Neville- that the children of Elizabeth and Edward were illegitimate because Edward had been previously formally betrothed to someone else. Elizabeths brother-in-law Richard took the throne as Richard III, imprisoning Edward V (never crowned) and then his younger brother, Richard. Elizabeth took sanctuary. Richard III then demanded that Elizabeth also turn over custody of her daughters, and she complied. Richard attempted to marry first his son, then himself, to Edward and Elizabeths oldest daughter, known as Elizabeth of York, hoping to make his claim to the throne more solid. Elizabeths sons by John Grey joined in the battle to overthrow Richard. One son, Richard Grey,  was beheaded by King Richards  forces; Thomas joined Henry Tudors forces. Mother of a Queen After Henry Tudor defeated Richard III at Bosworth Field and was crowned Henry VII, he married Elizabeth of York- a marriage arranged with the support of Elizabeth Woodville and also of Henrys mother, Margaret Beaufort. The marriage took place in January 1486, uniting the factions at the end of the Wars of the Roses  and making the claim to the throne more certain for the heirs of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Princes in the Tower The fate of the two sons of Elizabeth Woodville and Edward IV, the Princes in the Tower, is not certain. That Richard imprisoned them in the Tower is known. That Elizabeth worked to arrange the marriage of her daughter to Henry Tudor may mean that she knew, or at least suspected, that the princes were already dead. Richard III is generally believed to have been responsible for removing the possible claimants to the throne, but some theorize that Henry VII was responsible. Some have even suggested Elizabeth Woodville was complicit. Henry VII re-proclaimed the legitimacy of the marriage of Elizabeth Woodville and Edward IV. Elizabeth was the godmother of the first child of Henry VII and her daughter Elizabeth, Arthur. Death and Legacy In 1487, Elizabeth Woodville was suspected of plotting against Henry VII, her son-in-law, and her dowry was seized and she was sent to Bermondsey Abbey. She died there on June 8 or 9, 1492. She was buried in St. Georges Chapel in Windsor Castle near her husband. In 1503, James Tyrell was executed for the deaths of the two princes, sons of Edward IV, and the claim was that Richard III was responsible. Some later historians have pointed their fingers at Henry VI instead. The truth is that there is not any sure evidence of when, where, or by what hands the princes died. In Fiction Elizabeth Woodvilles life has lent itself to many fictional depictions, though not often as the main character.  She is, however, the main character in the British series, The White Queen. Elizabeth Woodville is Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeares Richard III. She and Richard are depicted as bitter enemies, and  Margaret  curses Elizabeth with having her husband and children killed, as Margarets husband and son were killed by Elizabeths husbands supporters. The company was aiming at rolling ten planes in a month though they are unable even to roll seven due to incapability of their production plants and the delays that are being caused by the team players in the production of the parts (Norris et al, 2005). In this research, the qualitative method would be used as it would give the details of why and how the company came on the conclusion of outsourcing the B787 parts to oversea companies. Qualitative method will explain the reason why the company decided to outsource the aircraft parts and how the process has affected the company, either positively or negatively (Denzin Lincoln, 2005). When Boeing Company decided to outsource the parts to Mitsubishi heavy industries in Japan, the company was looking for labor that would give the aspired results in time in order for the company to hit its targeted time. The outsourced parts have failed to meet the company’s prospect and its costing the company more delay and money as well. The delay have already cost the company more than $10 billion and is estimated it might lose more if no quick action is going to be taken (Dominic, 2009). The company identified the weaknesses in the already completed parts by the contracted companies and did not meet the expected standards during the test. The parts were made of composite materials and could peel off if the airplane is exposed in either extreme heat or cold temperatures. The company outsourced 60% of the aircraft to different suppliers which was seen as a brilliant move that could save the company huge money and time. The other reason is because the company wanted to shift from the aluminum technology to composite materials (Corliss, 2009). When the parts were being connected together, there were variations in different aircraft parts which posed a great risk to the safety of the company. The company is continually loosing as more delays occur as the company tries to woo the contracted suppliers to hurry and do amendments to parts that do not meet the quality checks, example, the wings were found to bear less weight that they were designed to support thus bringing the un-uniformity of the initial aircraft design. This has also contributed to the decline of the company’s share prices by about 4. 9% (Susanna, 2010). Boeing Company had made a sound financial decision when it outsourced some parts of the B787 to other companies though they had not calculated the risks that could on the other hand be brought by outsourcing. The delay and fail in quality of the parts paralyzed the Boeing’s sound decision and proofed it wrong and expensive than if it could have made all its parts in its production center. Electrostatic Precipitator Essay -- Preventing Air Pollution

The electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is a machine used in factories, to clean out the waste solid particle, for example ash from the exhaust gas, allowing clean exhaust gas exit through the chimney. The electrostatic precipitator functions by using first allow the exhaust gas with the waste solid particles pass through the Nozzle as shown in the diagram below. Then the exhaust gas passes through inlet gas distribution, which evenly distributes the gas as shown below in a turquoise color, and starts going through the Discharge electrodes and the collector plates, which is shown in the diagram red and blue respectively. The discharge electrodes, which are powered by high voltage direct current, ionize the gas along with the other solid waste particles negatively. The collector plates are also charged with high voltage electricity, but it is positively charged, therefore attracting the negatively charged solid particle, because oppositely charged particles attract. This allows the clean exhaust gas pass through the other end, while the solid waste particles are trapped in the collector plates. Eventually when there are enough solid waste particles collected on the collector plates, the collect plates shakes off the collected waste, where it drops to the bottom of the shaft as shown in the diagram as â€Å"Hopper†. http://www.babcock.com/products/Documents/dryESP_illustration.jpg Many cities are currently affected by air pollution and Hong Kong is one example. Hong Kong’s air pollution level often exceeds the recommended air pollution level put out by the World Health Organization, and Hong Kong’s pollution index was at â€Å"very high† meaning that it exceeded 101, for 34% of the time (Hunt, 2011). Another example, when Hong Kong excee... ... tag, and lots of regulation in certain countries requiring factories to use one, it puts a lots of stress and increases cost on the factory operators, and might cause jobs to be cut in order to buy and operate the ESP. This might affect economic growth, but on the other hand the ESP will result in cleaner air, and this has increased the housing market price due to cleaner air (Rich 2011), which will help a sluggish economy, for example in the U.S. Overall, I believe that the ESP has a mostly positive impact on society in general. ESPs impacted positively on the environment, and health, but have both advantages and disadvantages economically. However I believe that co-operations and factories have a responsibility to deal with their pollution, because they created it in the first place, even though it might take a certain amount of money and investment.
